The Coronation of a Candidate

After New Jersey finally becomes a state in which the presidential primary actually means something and we have a say in choosing our candidate, the GOP establishment is looking to take that right away andcoronate a candidate before even ONE vote is actually cast.

That’s right, after fighting side by side to make our votes mean something in choosing our president early in the primary season, the GOP establishment elite swooped in and a group of 10 people is looking to make our vote meaningless and our voices silent, again.

In past presidential election cycles, candidates were awarded delegates based on their performance in the various congressional districts, of course by that time in the primary season, it was more of acknowledging the winner who had the nomination locked up 2 months earlier.

But now, two GOP bosses are proposing a rule change, whereby its WINNER TAKES ALL .. The winner of the overall voting will now receive ALL the delegates. That sounds like “special rights” to me and certainly not equal rights.

The rule change was proposed by 2 Rudy Giuliani supporters and passed 10-3. It now goes to the Republican State Committee where 2/3rd’s of the 42 members must rule in favor of it’s passing.

Anyone who beliefs in democracy should be against this proposed rule change; a candidate can lose 5 or 6 of the 13 congressional districts and still receive every single delegate available. This rule change even has a chance of back firing on even its own supporters. Let’s say Fred Thompson enters the race, and support for other candidates goes to him, and after primary day is over Rudy comes in second in 8 of the districts but wins 5 districts; his total delegates for the National Convention is now ZERO.
