Justice, Corrected

Over the holiday weekend, a number of people celebrated the brave men and women who have sacrificed and suffered to defend our nation. They may have missed an important decision, which averted a tragic miscarriage of justice.

On May 26th, Marine Corps Major General Richard Huck, commander of the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, N.C., threw out murder charges against 2nd Lt. Ilario Pantano, finding that Lt. Pantano acted within the rules of the engagement in an April 15 2004 encounter south of Baghdad.

It should never have gotten this far, but Marines can breathe a little easier, knowing they are not as likely to be arrested for doing their job, as they were just a short while ago.
