Franken Weeps
Polipundit reader, Marty, tipped me to the O’Reilly episode tonight which showed an excerpt from a CBC hit piece on Fox News which featured Al Franken weeping (or at least conspicuously wiping at his eyes). O’Reilly suggested that maybe Franken had just seen his latest radio show ratings.
Actually, Franken said he was upset over the discourse in this country, and congratulated himself for going on his fifth USO tour. If he really wanted to help the troops, maybe he could search for something they are doing over there that he considers worthy of praise. Certainly he can’t believe that everything our brave men and women are doing in Iraq is wrong. Would it kill him to add a few positive words to the list of complaints he has with their mission? He could always begin the statement with “I hate President Bush and give him no credit for it, but I think what the troops did….was a really good thing. ” Maybe he says things like that when he is over there. If he does he should repeat it here so that the families of those troops could hear it, too. (What does he do in a USO tour anyway? Comedy?)
If Franken was truly worried about the discourse in this country, maybe he would stop calling the President an AWOL liar who misled the country into an unnecessary war. Or maybe he could stop supporting the politicians that engage in that level of discourse.
If anyone knows where the video of that Franken clip is available online, please let me know by email or in the comments section. I would like to make it available tothose who did not see it on Fox News tonight.
