The one instance in which the LAT editorial page showed sanity during the recall campaign was when it argued against the Ninth Circus postponement of the election.
However, in light of the carefully scheduled last-minute hit piece against Arnold, does that editorial take on new meaning?
If the recall had been postponed, the LAT would have had to release its Arnold bombshell months before the election, thereby diluting its effect on the final outcome. Instead it gets to release the dirt a few days before the election, claiming plausible deniability, even though it’s readily apparent that this was a last-minute hit piece carefully calculated to help Davis and hurt Arnold.
